A group in Zamfara identified as concerned Citizens of Zamfara state under the leadership of Alhaji Sanusi Lalan has advocated for the removal of Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawale as the Minister of state for Defence.
This was disclosed by the State Coordinator of the group, Sanusi Lalan while briefing journalists in Gusau over their disappointment on the Minister amidst their high expectations.
In his words, the state coordinator maintained that as at the time Matawale was appointed as the Minister of state for Defence, their hope was that, him being a bonafide son of Northwest and being aware of the scourge of insecurity experienced in the region, would use his wealth of experience and wisdom to bring an end to insecurity and criminalities in the region.
It is so disheartening, disappointed and mean that, the Minister of the Federation can only pull federal might to win election and engage in blame games when the issue of insecurity, banditry and criminality is involved.
We, the Concern Citizens Of Zamfara state have seen through the scheme of Matawale and have decided to take a stand, speaking in one voice against his person, his appointment and interest.
We are calling on the people’s President and a listening leader of our time, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider our advocacy and remove Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawale as the Minister of state for Defence with immediate effect.
We plead with the President to endeavour to adopt a more suitable and qualified son or daughter of the Northwest Nigeria who has the loving and caring mind like Dauda Lawal to fight along with the Governors of the Northwest and bring an end to the insecurity currently bedevilling the region.
The earlier the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu takes action the better for Nigeria, for it is not safe that countries like America are now intruding in our security affairs because of the negligence of one man, Sanusi insisted.
Recalled that the same Bello Matawalle held a Governorship position in Zamfara State, and Since his assumption of office as defence Minister, he rarely visit the state and even if he visits, it is for his political Mission and not for insecurity issues.
For more than two and a half years now, Zamfara has not been relatively safe with little effort of Governor Dauda Lawal doing his best and stepping on toes just to save lives and property of Zamfara state Citizens.
Base on our records as concerned Citizens of the state we are stating here vehemently that Bello Matawalle is not cooperating, if he faults us we challenge him to tell us any three effort he has made against insecurity since he became the minister of state for Defence.
