Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a detailed timetable for its 2025/2026 congresses across the country, setting in motion a months-long process that will culminate in the party’s national convention in March 2026.

The schedule was announced Saturday by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, in a statement shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account. According to the party, the timetable is issued in line with Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution and is designed to elect party officials at ward, local government, state, zonal and national levels.

Under the plan, the process will begin with nationwide membership e-registration, scheduled to run from December 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026. Formal notices of congresses will then be issued to state chapters and the Federal Capital Territory on February 2, 2026.

The purchase and submission of nomination forms for ward and local government area (LGA) congresses are slated for February 4 to February 9, 2026. Screening committees for those positions will be inaugurated on February 10, with the screening of aspirants holding between February 11 and February 13.

Ward congresses are fixed for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, followed by appeals on February 19. LGA congresses, which will also elect three delegates, at least one of them female, to the national convention, are scheduled for February 20, with appeals to be heard on February 21.

At the state level, the timetable indicates that the purchase of forms for state executive positions will take place from February 23 to February 27, 2025, as stated in the document released by the party. Screening and appeals for state executives are expected in late February and early March 2026, with state congresses set for Saturday, March 7, 2026. Appeals from state congresses will run from March 9 to March 11.

The process will then move to the zonal stage. Purchase and submission of forms for zonal congresses and the national convention are scheduled for March 12 to March 17, 2026. Zonal congress committees will be inaugurated on March 18, followed by the screening of aspirants on March 19 and 20.

Zonal congresses across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones will hold on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The designated venues are Ibadan (South West), Enugu (South East), Rivers/Cross River (South South), Kaduna (North West), Gombe/Bauchi (North East), and Nasarawa (North Central). Appeals from the zonal congresses will be considered on March 23.

The timetable concludes with the APC National Convention, scheduled to take place from Wednesday, March 25, to Saturday, March 28, 2026, an event expected to shape the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of future electoral contests.
