JORAISU vows to continue strike until demands are met

Emmanuel kehinde, Ilorin
Joint Research and Allied Sector Union (JORAISU) has said that it would continue with the strike it embarked on on Oct. 11 until it’s demands are met.
In a statement signed by Julius Oluseyi Babatunde, National Research Institute Commission (NARICOM), they vowed to continue the strike until their demands are met by the FG.
Due to the lackadaisical attitude of the FG to these demands as demonstrated in their lack of political will to engage JORAISU in any meaningful negotiation, NASU and ASURI members of the Bioresources Development Centre Ogbomoso trooped out on Monday 13/12/2021) to register their displeasure over this.
The NASU Members lead by Comrade Babatunde Seyi Julius and ASURI members lead by Comrade Femi Afolabi and thei EXCOs of the two Unions barricaded the entrance of the Centre while holding several placards with the plights of the suffering workers boldly
It is no longer news that JORAISU (Joint Research and Allied Sector Union) have declared an industrial action since the eleventh day of October, 2021 due to the shabby treatment being given to workers in the research Agencies and Institutes in Nigeria. What is however news is the newfound vigour with which the Union is prosecuting the strike to endure FG compliance with signed agreements and demands.
Our Correspondent reports that JORAISU demands are:Payment of 12 CONRAISS arrears of 53.37% salary increase since 2009.Retirement age of 65 years for non-scientific staff.Peculiar/Earned allowances.Establishment of a central body to be known as NARICOM ( national research institute commission).
. Release of scheme/condition of service.Adequate funding of research institute.
