The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Thursday honoured its 2025 class of retiring officers in an emotional send-forth ceremony that highlighted decades of national service, professional diligence, and institutional loyalty.

The event, held on December 11, 2025, brought together management, staff, and well-wishers as Director-General and CEO, Professor Charles Anosike, led tributes to officers who have completed 35 years in service or reached the statutory retirement age.

Speaking at the ceremony, Anosike described the moment as “a defining chapter in NiMet’s institutional story,” praising the retirees for what he called their unwavering professionalism, operational expertise, and steadfast dedication to the Agency’s mandate.

According to the DG, the departing officers served as pillars of stability within NiMet, preserving institutional memory and mentoring younger professionals who now carry the torch of the Agency’s work. He noted that their influence will continue to shape the organization long after their exit.

Anosike emphasized that the retirees embodied NiMet’s core values, upheld operational standards, and transferred critical knowledge that has strengthened the Agency over the years. “Their service fortified NiMet’s resilience and fueled our progress,” he said.

In emotional farewell statements, several retirees expressed profound appreciation for Anosike’s leadership, which they described as transformative and forward-looking. They credited him with repositioning NiMet, boosting staff morale, and championing reforms that have significantly enhanced the Agency’s efficiency and national visibility. Many referred to his tenure as one defined by innovation, integrity, and renewed institutional direction.

The DG closed the ceremony with warm congratulations, wishing the retirees “robust health, fulfilment, and continued success” as they embark on the next phase of their lives.
