Uncertainty on Bayelsa state Deputy governor, senator Lawrence Evwrudjakpo from Yenagoa

By: Odieh Ramon, Yenagoa.

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has died after collapsing suddenly. Authorities say he slumped in his office and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

This was the first news that filtered out, and there have been different versions. Some said he was rushed to another hospital outside Yenagoa, where doctors were battling to save his life, and some said he had passed on and was taken to a morgue at Federal Medical Centre, Otuoke, in a long convoy of fourteen vehicles apart from the ambulance.

Several efforts were made to confirm with the state government, all to no avail.

However, the line of the senior special Assistant to the deputy governor, Dounbara Atasi, later went through, and he said, ” Actually, his principal slumped and was rushed to the hospital, as we speak, he is still alive, but in critical condition,” he told our reporter on the phone.
