Adeleke’s defection shakes Osun politics as Gov clinches Accord Party ticket

Governor Ademola Adeleke has upended Osun’s political landscape after emerging as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for next year’s election, a development that signals a dramatic realignment ahead of the polls.

The declaration was made on Wednesday during the Accord Party governorship primary, where the Osun State chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, announced Adeleke as the party’s sole aspirant, disclosing that 150 delegates were accredited for the exercise.

Adeleke’s sudden shift to the Accord Party, despite being the sitting governor, has sparked intense speculation about widening cracks within his former political base and the strategic calculations driving his reelection bid. Political observers say his move could reshape existing alliances, fracture traditional voting blocs, and create a three-way contest unprecedented in recent Osun elections.
