The death of Alh. Muhammadu Mailaton Gumbi, the District Head of Wajeke in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has passed away.

Aged 80, the deceased died at an Abuja private hospital after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and service.

The funeral prayer, was led by the Chief Imam of Gumbi Central Mosque, Imam Ahmad Abubakar Gumbi.

SA Media and Publicity to the Senator, Bashar Abubakar in a statement said Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff, and various members of the State Assembly and Executive Council. Traditional rulers, politicians, Ulama, and community members were among the many personalities who attended the funeral prayer of the late monarch.

Senator Wamakko, speaking on behalf of the state governor, expressed his shock at the News of Alh. Gumbi’s passing. He conveyed the sentiment that God alone determines the time of departure for each individual, highlighting the deceased’s attributes as a God-fearing, charismatic, and peace-loving leader.

The Senator extended heartfelt condolences to Alh. Gumbi’s family and relatives emphasized the significant impact he had on the community.

Mallam Bashir Kanawa offered special prayers for the repose of the late District Head’s soul.

Alh. Muhammadu Mailaton Gumbi is remembered not only as a community leader but also as a former federal lawmaker who served Sokoto Local Government during the 1983 political era.

His contributions to the region and commitment to peace and harmony will be sorely missed.

The loss of Alh. Mailaton Gumbi marks a significant moment for the community, reminding all of the enduring legacy of leadership through service and integrity.

He left behind 3 wives, and 22 children.
