The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing infrastructure for the judiciary and ensuring dignified working conditions for judges. Honourable Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, made this statement during a project monitoring visit to the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District and the Appeal Court Complex, Abuja division.
This was contained in a press release from Rabi Umar Musa, the Assistant Director of Press, Office of the Minister on Wednesday.
While expressing satisfaction with the progress at the Judges’ Quarters, the Minister lamented the delay in completing the Appeal Court Complex project, initially expected to be delivered in September. Contractors had requested a new deadline of December, which the Minister deemed unrealistic.
“We are not satisfied with the contractors’ pace. I don’t think they will meet the new deadline. Probably, they will hand over by January, but that was not what we expected at all,” Wike said.
The Minister emphasized the importance of investing in judiciary infrastructure, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s interest in empowering judges and boosting their welfare. “These are the things that make them have confidence in doing their jobs…and command public confidence in the judiciary,” he added.
