‘This needs to end now’: Don Jazzy urges Tinubu to hold security Chiefs accountable

Music mogul Don Jazzy has voiced deep frustration over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, urging President Bola Tinubu to demand far stronger accountability from the nation’s security chiefs. His impassioned appeal came on Wednesday after the president abruptly cancelled planned trips to South Africa and Angola due to a wave of violent attacks.

The Mavin Records boss took to X to express outrage over the latest tragedies, including the killing of Army General Musa Uba in Borno, the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi, and the terrifying shooting at a Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State. The singer said the string of tragedies shows the alarming level of insecurity Nigerians now endure.

President Tinubu had promised that terrorists and criminals would face the “full weight of the Nigerian state.” But Don Jazzy insisted that words were no longer enough and that Nigerians deserved visible, immediate action rather than repeated condemnations.

According to him, Nigeria did not always live this way, and citizens should never accept terrorism as part of normal existence. He questioned how attackers continue to appear and vanish without a trace, wondering why intelligence gathering remains so weak despite heavy government investment in security.

“The perpetrators deserve no mercy,” he wrote, calling for the armed forces to go after every terrorist responsible for the ongoing carnage. He urged the president to take decisive measures now, insisting there is no more time for excuses or hesitation.

Don Jazzy emphasised that insecurity has reached a crisis point requiring urgent action from both the military and political leadership. He insisted that Nigerians must start seeing measurable results, not more promises of improvement.

“Mr President, please demand more accountability from your security chiefs,” he pleaded. “This needs to end now, sir.”
