United States President Donald Trump has revealed that his teenage son, Barron, is a huge admirer of Cristiano Ronaldo after meeting the football legend during a high-profile White House dinner in honour of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Ronaldo arrived at the White House on Tuesday night alongside fiancée Georgina Rodriguez as part of the Crown Prince’s delegation. Seated among global power figures like Elon Musk and Vice President JD Vance, the Portuguese superstar immediately drew attention.

Dressed in a sleek black tuxedo, the 40-year-old football icon was visibly at ease in the political gathering, until Trump singled him out in a lighthearted but viral moment during his address.

Trump told guests, “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo… Barron got to meet him and I think he respects his father a little bit more now, just because I introduced you.”

The crowd erupted in laughter as Trump thanked Ronaldo and his partner for attending, tying the footballer’s presence to a personal father-son moment inside the White House.

Ronaldo’s visit to Washington comes on the heels of a dramatic World Cup qualifier incident in which he received a red card against Ireland, ruling him out of Portugal’s subsequent match against Armenia.

Despite the setback, Portugal sealed qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, meaning Ronaldo may soon return to the country where Barron Trump became an even bigger fan.
