The Super Falcons of Nigeria have once again written their name in gold after being crowned 2025 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year, reaffirming their unmatched dominance in African women’s football.

The award, presented on Wednesday night in Rabat, celebrates a whirlwind year in which Nigeria stormed to their record-extending 10th WAFCON title, powering past rivals with confidence and flair under head coach Justin Madugu.

The Falcons set the tone early with a flawless group-stage performance, defeating Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria without conceding a single goal. Their discipline and cohesion were among the best seen in the tournament.

Their knockout journey was even more impressive. Nigeria crushed Zambia 5–0 in the quarterfinals, then battled past defending champions South Africa with a tense 2–1 victory in the semi-finals that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The final against hosts Morocco will be remembered for decades. Trailing 2–0 in the opening 24 minutes, Nigeria staged one of the greatest comebacks in WAFCON history, roaring back to win 3–2 and claim the title in dramatic fashion.

The Falcons also saw individual stars rise. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade earned a nomination for African Player of the Year, while Chiamaka Nnadozie continued her reign as the continent’s best goalkeeper with another stunning campaign.

With their 10th continental crown and a team stacked with world-class talent, the Super Falcons have once again cemented Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football, proving that champions don’t just win titles, they define eras.
