‘Respect my late Father’: Nwabali warns Lege Miami after viral attack

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has issued a fiery warning to controversial entertainer Lege Miami after the actor made derogatory remarks involving the goalkeeper’s late father.
The clash erupted after Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, with Lege Miami publicly criticising several players in his usual no-holds-barred style.

While the actor praised Victor Osimhen, Calvin Bassey, and Benjamin Fredrick, he singled out other players for harsh insults, and Nwabali was not spared.
Despite the goalkeeper saving two penalties in the playoff loss to DR Congo, Lege Miami referenced his late father during his commentary, triggering widespread outrage from fans.

Nwabali, who recently buried his father, responded on Instagram with a stern message demanding respect for the dead.
“Remove my late dad’s name from your mouth… I’m not your regular type of footballer. I will beat you mercilessly,” he warned.

His reaction has since dominated social media conversations, with many Nigerians supporting his demand for boundaries when discussing players’ private lives.
Critics accused Lege Miami of crossing the line for engagement, while others argued that public figures should expect scrutiny.

Hours after Nwabali’s warning, Lege Miami reshared the message and insisted the goalkeeper owed Nigerians an apology for the failed World Cup bid.
He added, “You came to my DM to insult me… all I want is an apology video.”

The heated exchange has reignited conversations about online harassment, disrespect toward bereaved families, and the need for emotional sensitivity, even in football banter.
For now, Nwabali has made one thing clear: criticism is fine, but dragging his late father into football commentary is a line no one should cross.
