Head of Corporate Communications at JRB Group, Mr. Theophilus Enemali, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to promoting clean energy adoption in Nigeria through youth engagement and education.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the winners of the 2025 JRB Renewable Energy Essay Competition were announced, Enemali said the initiative was designed to create wider awareness about renewable energy while empowering young Nigerians to play active roles in shaping the nation’s sustainable future.

The reason we organize this event is to create much more awareness about clean energy adoption in the country,” Enemali explained. “We believe in including younger minds and brighter children so they can be part of the global conversation. There’s no possibility of having a greener future if we do not put the future leaders into that conversation.”

Enemali noted that the first and second editions of the JRB Renewable Energy Prize were focused on schools within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He added that the cash prize was increased from ₦500,000 to ₦1 million this year to further encourage participation and reward excellence.

“Next year, our plan is to make it a national competition,” he revealed. “We want to give every young Nigerian across the country the opportunity to participate and contribute to the renewable energy movement.”

Expressing satisfaction with the outcome of this year’s event, Enemali described the students’ ideas as “brilliant and innovative,” noting that their insights offered practical pathways toward solving Nigeria’s persistent power challenges.

“The kind of innovative ideas coming from these brilliant young minds is truly resounding,” he said. “I will continue to follow up with the winners, because they are the ones who will drive clean energy adoption and innovation in the future.”

The JRB Renewable Energy Essay Competition, organized in collaboration with the Rauf Badamosi Foundation, aims to inspire secondary school students to explore sustainable energy solutions and advocate for environmental responsibility.
