National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has organised a sensitization workshop for employers of labour and workers on the need to key into the federal government’s Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS).
The workshop which was held on Thursday, 16 October, 2025 at the Anaedo Hall in Nnewi was fully attended by operators at the formal and informal sectors.
Speaking at the occasion, the lawmaker representing Ekwusigo, Nnewi North and Nnewi South Local Government Areas at the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Peter Ifeanyi Uzokwe appealed to employers of labour to enroll their employees into ECS.
He stressed the need for his constituents to key into the scheme which according to him is fully funded by the federal government and backed up by the act of Parliament
Rt Hon Uzokwe also appealed to the federal government to put more funds into the scheme so that it can be more effective.
The federal lawmaker appreciated the great work been done by the Managing Director (MD) of NSITF and his team, noting that the institution is enjoying a new lease of life under the incumbent management.
In his speech, the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NSIT, Barr. Oluseun Faleye extolled the passion of the people of Nnewi for industry, community and commerce.
He pointed out that the uncommon passion of the people of the industrial town of Nnewi has resulted into passion for economic growth.
The MD,. CEO of NSITF also commended the passion of the Lawmaker representing Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South in the House of Representatives for his people.
Barr Faleye said that NSITF is committed to taking the Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) to the informal sector, which he noted is the engine room of the economy.
He appealed to Tricycle operators, Okada riders, commercial drivers’ union to organize themselves and key into the scheme.
The one day workshop which featured question and answer section and demonstration section was attended by the Lawmaker representing Anambra East and West LGAs in House of Representatives, Rt Hon Peter Anikwe, Mayor Nnewi North LGA, Hon Eche Anazodo and many more dignitaries in attendence.
