Dr. Jim-Oscar Segun Osemeka, a renowned author, clergy, and Chief Executive Officer of Secrets of Success Enterprise, has called on Nigerian youths to embrace digital tools as pathways to self-reliance and personal development.
Speaking at a seminar held recently at the Administration Auditorium, Gwarimpa, in commemoration of Nigeria’s Independence Day, Dr. Osemeka emphasized the need for young people to leverage the internet, social media, and other digital platforms to build expertise and achieve independence, rather than relying solely on government support.
He noted that Nigerian youths possess immense untapped potential and urged them to channel their creativity and innovation toward productive ventures. According to him, exploring digital opportunities can help young people transform their skills and ideas into sustainable sources of income.
Dr. Osemeka cautioned against limiting digital engagement to entertainment alone, encouraging the youth instead to create meaningful and value-driven content. He cited examples of successful creators, such as TikToker Pellar, who have used digital platforms to expand their reach and build thriving personal brands.
By following such examples, he said, young Nigerians can monetise their talents and contribute positively to the nation’s economic growth.
“I keep teaching in The Secret the sacrosanctity of exploring the mind rather than waiting for the government to serve success on your table à la carte,” Dr. Osemeka said. “The power of the mind allows you to explore digital skills and become great rather than relying on the government. Youths should learn to speak greatness into their lives before going to bed and take conscious strategic steps in achieving them.”
He concluded by urging African youths to think beyond conventional limits and harness the potential of digital entrepreneurship as a key driver of future progress.
