Coalition of NGOs discusses 2026 Zonal town hall meeting on budgeting

The Coalition of NGOs, Sokoto State, under the leadership of Comrade Bello Shehu Gwadabawa, participated in the Continuation of the 2026 Zonal Town Hall Budget Discussions for the Sokoto Central Senatorial Zone.

Building on the momentum of the successful commencement in Sokoto South, the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Abubakar M. Zayyana, in collaboration with the Ministry for Local Government Affairs, held the second session of the 2026 Zonal Town Hall Budget Discussions at the Federal College of Education, Gidan Madi, Tangaza, covering the Sokoto Central Senatorial Zone.

This ongoing exercise, introduced under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto (FCNA), aims to bring the budgeting process closer to the people—ensuring inclusiveness, transparency, and alignment with the priorities of communities across the state.

In attendance were district heads, local government chairmen, traditional leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), and representatives from various local government areas across the Sokoto Central Senatorial District.

The Zonal Town Hall Budget Discussions represent a major step toward institutionalizing participatory budgeting in Sokoto State, ensuring that every kobo spent delivers real impact in line with the governor’s 9-Point Smart Agenda.

The final session will be held in the coming days for the Sokoto East Senatorial Zone, marking the completion of this historic statewide engagement.
