SEEPCO Champions Green Energy Future at NAEC 2025: forum promises to proof in Nigeria’s sustainability drive

Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) is turning climate pledges into measurable progress.

At the 2025 Annual Conference of the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC), held in Lagos, the company unveiled impressive sustainability figures that underscore its green transition journey, 90% fleet conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG), a 25% reduction in emissions, and over 10,000 trees planted across host communities.

Representing SEEPCO at the conference, Dr. Chris Offokansi, Head of Human Resources and Industrial Relations, highlighted the company’s ambitious shift to cleaner energy sources.
According to him, “Over 90 percent of SEEPCO’s vehicles and heavy equipment now run on CNG — a change that has already reduced our operational emissions by 25 percent.”

He added that the transformation goes beyond technology, incorporating structural upgrades with improved barges and pollution safeguards designed to protect Nigeria’s waterways.

Greening Communities, Not Just Operations —SEEPCO.

SEEPCO’s sustainability footprint extends far beyond its industrial operations.
Dr. Offokansi highlighted initiatives such as waste management reforms, water conservation programs, and a tree-planting campaign that has surpassed 10,000 seedlings across local communities.

“These numbers are not milestones for optics,” he said, “but proof of SEEPCO’s commitment to measurable and accountable sustainability.”

People, Planet, and Progress.

Known for his expertise in sustainability leadership, Offokansi emphasized the company’s human-centered approach to energy transition.

“We measure success not just by growth, but by the positive impact we create for people, communities, and the environment,” he stated.

He further underscored SEEPCO’s dedication to human rights, community inclusion, and transparent engagement with regulators and stakeholders, a shift towards what he described as “a values-driven model for progress.”

Industry Collaboration for a Cleaner Future

Appreciating NAEC for fostering industry dialogue, Dr. Offokansi reaffirmed SEEPCO’s commitment to deepening partnerships and driving innovation within Nigeria’s energy ecosystem.
He noted that for SEEPCO, sustainability has evolved beyond corporate compliance into a strategic business philosophy anchored on transparency and measurable impact.

A New Chapter in Nigeria’s Energy Transition

SEEPCO’s participation at NAEC 2025 underscores its role as a pacesetter in the nation’s green energy transformation.
By aligning its operations with measurable environmental goals and community welfare, the company is signaling a shift from rhetoric to results, a move that could redefine sustainability leadership within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
