Man Convicted for Land Scam in Kaduna

A certain Tanko Samari who fraudulently obtained N1, 160,000(One Million, One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira) from one Oladele Kolawole Ajayi by selling two plots of land that do not belong to him, has been convicted and sentenced to a fine of N 100, 000 or in default, 10 years imprisonment by Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court.

Justice Khobo handed down the sentence today after the defendant pleaded guilty to the one count charge brought against him by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC.

The charge reads: ” That you Tanko Samari sometimes in April, 2017 in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court dishonestly induced Oladele Kolawole Ajayi to deliver to you the sum of N1,160,000(One Million,  One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira) for the purchase of two plots of land located at Unguwa Waziri Karji village, Kaduna State, when you claim to be the owner, which you knew to be false and you thereby committed cheating contrary to Section 306(a) and punishable under Section 307 of the Penal Code Laws of Kaduna State, 2017.

Justice Khobo, sentenced the defendant to a fine of N100, 000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira only) or, in default, serve a term of 10 years imprisonment.

The defendant has already restituted the complainant the sum of N1, 160,000(One Million, One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira only).
