NEMA distributes relief materials to flood, windstorm victims in two federal constituencies in Niger

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to victims of flood and windstorm disasters in two federal constituencies in Niger state.

The beneficiaries include Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency, where NEMA distributed relief materials to flood victims in three local government areas of Mokwa, Lavun, and Edati.

Head of NEMA, Minna Operations Office, Mr Hussaini Isah, said the gesture was facilitated by Mr Joshua Gana, member representing Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency, through NEMA.

Isah, who was represented by Shamsudeen Haliru, Search and Rescue Operations Officer of the agency in Niger state, listed the relief materials to include: rice, maize, seasoning cubes, vegetable oil, tomato paste, and iodised salt.

He said the relief materials were distributed in the presence of representatives of the Federal lawmaker led by Mr Jacob Saba.

Isah added that the distribution exercise was conducted across the three local government areas with support from NSEMA local officials and community leaders.

He said the intervention was aimed at alleviating the immediate hardship, restoring hope, and reinforcing the commitment of NEMA towards timely disaster response and humanitarian assistance.

Responding, the Ndalile of Mokwa (Village Head), Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, who was represented by Mohammed Ahmed, appreciated NEMA for its timely support to the affected communities.

In the same vein, the NEMA also distributed relief materials to persons affected by the recent windstorm disasters in Shiroro, Munya and Rafi Federal Constituency of the state.

The distribution which took place at Farm Institute Tegina, Rafi local government area, was led by Mr Hussaini Isah, Head of Operations, with the collaboration of NSEMA and other stakeholders.

Hussaini said the relief materials were facilitated by Mr Isma’ila Modibo, member representing Shiroro, Munya and Rafi Federal Constituency, through NEMA.

He said the distribution exercise was done with assistance from representative of the lawmaker across the three affected local government areas with active participation of community leaders and other stakeholders.

He said the relief materials distributed to beneficiaries were rice, maize, seasoning cubes, vegetable oil, tomato paste, and iodised salt.

One of the beneficiaries, Malam Muntari Abdulbaki, Chief Imam of Garun Gabas, thanked NEMA for its timely response and support to the affected communities.
