Zamfara Human Capital Development holds two strategic workshop in Kaduna

The Zamfara state Human Capital Development has convened a two day strategic workshop in Kaduna, focusing on a platform for robust strategies to improve the health, education, skills, and economic empowerment of Zamfara’s population.

A statement from Bilyaminu Muhammad Technical Aide on media and communication to Hon special Adviser on Human Capital Development revealed that, the workshop, which held from 12th to 13th August 2025, brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, academics, representatives of NGOs, CBOs, development partners, and traditional rulers.

Representing the Zamfara State Governor at the event, the Special Adviser on Human Capital Development, Hon. Nura Suraj, attended both days of the event, reiterating the administration’s unwavering commitment to investing in people as the foundation for economic growth and sustainable peace.

Day One focused on outlining the state Human Capital Development’s (HCD) vision, mission, and goals, emphasizing the creation of a healthy, educated, and economically productive population.

Presentations covered the role of HCD in state transformation, with in depth discussions on the thematic areas of health & nutrition, education & skills, labour & economic empowerment, social inclusion, and governance.

Facilitators were, Prof. Kabiru Haruna Ɗanja of the Federal University of Education, Zaria; Prof. Abdullahi Adamu Kutama of Bayero University, Kano; and Hon. Sagir Balarabe, Special Adviser on HCD, Kaduna State.

Day Two shifted to practical strategies for implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Sessions addressed the development of realistic action plans, effective use of data, stakeholder collaboration, and the direct link between HCD investments and poverty reduction.

Participants at the workshop unanimously agreed on developing a comprehensive state wide HCD implementation framework with measurable outcomes, strengthening data systems, and enhancing stakeholder engagement.

Certificates were presented to participants in recognition of their contributions. Hon. Nura Suraj expressed appreciation to all facilitators and participants, reaffirming the Zamfara State Government’s determination to leverage human capital development as a pathway to prosperity, economic growth, and lasting peace.
