NBA Nnewi branch celebrates 25th Annual Law Week
...Grandly welcomes NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Nnewi Branch has celebrated its 25th Annual Law Week and the grand reception of the NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, whose emergence as NBA President is not just a personal achievement, but a historical milestone for the Nnewi Bar and the entire legal community in Anambra State.
The event which was held at Esther Hall, Classic Munich Hotel, Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, had in attendance, the NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the Chairman NBA, Nnewi Branch, K.G. Abonyi, MCArb., the Administrative Judge, Anambra State High court and the guest speaker, Hon. Justice Emeka Okuma, the APC governorship candidate for the November, 8, gubernatorial election, Evang. Nicholas Ukachukwu, represented by Chief Dozie Ikedife Jnr, Mr Ike Obeta, Dr Raph Nduka, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, Chief G. O Osuigwe, SAN, among others.
Speaking during the event, themed “Facing The Future,” the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Nnewi Branch, K.G. Abonyi, expressed his gratitude to God Almighty and warmly welcomed the NBA members to the 2025 Annual Law Week of the Nigeria Bar Association, Nnewi Branch.
He disclosed that this year’s Law Week has been carefully designed to provoke thought, foster dialogue, and inspire innovation among legal professionals and policymakers.
Abonyi further disclosed that they gathered to celebrate their own, their son, their pride, and their President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, who emerged as the 32nd President of the Nigeria Bar Association.
“We are exceedingly proud of your vision, courage, and your service to the profession, and we are delighted to host this grand reception in your honour,” he said.
Abonyi appreciated the family of their late father, mentor, and icon, Chief Bennett Etiaba, KSC, adding that the NBA, Nnewi Branch, deeply appreciated the Etiaba family for their enduring commitment to the growth of the legal profession in Nnewi, especially toward the completion of their Bar Center.
He also appreciated Chief Oseloka Godwin Osuigwe, SAN, for his relentless efforts toward the completion of the Bar Center, thereby appealing to all Stakeholders to support the full completion of the Bar Center.
The Guest Speaker, Hon. Justice Emeka Okuma spoke extensively on the future of Nigeria legal practice. He advised members to learn and relearn, adding that technology would phase out some lawyers and at the same time enhance and equip some lawyers.
He ended by saying that partnership remained a way forward and encouraged NBA members to shun one man practice which according him would cripple the growth of the profession.
Highlights of the occasion included: award presentation and dinner sponsored by Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN.
