NAS hosts NCoS in Bayelsa, seeks partnership in rehabilitating inmates, curbing crimes

Leadership of the National Association of Seadogs Pyrates Confraternity (NAS PC), Oxbow Marino Deck on Tuesday hosted the Controller of Corrections of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Bayelsa State command over the need for partnership to rehabilitate prison inmates and curbing crime in the state.

The Controller of Corrections of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Imo Ikahokhuele of the Bayelsa State Command, who was received by the Capoon of the Oxbow Marino Deck, Engr. Adogbeji Egbonoje, pointed out that since his assumption of office on May 19, 2025, he has witnessed and show admiration for NAS PC’s longstanding support to the Correctional Service.

Ikahokhuele also noted that, while reviewing the hand over documents left behind by his predecessor at his new post, he discovered that there is the need to familiarise himself with the Association and explore ways to strengthen the partnership in rehabilitating inmates and curbing crime.

The Capoon, Engr. Adogbeji Egbonoje, in his welcome speech, highlighted the Association’s history, mission, and commitment to humanistic ideals.

He also revealed the proposed plans by the NAS to donate a block of classrooms for a literacy program at the Correctional Centre and introduced the Legal Assistance and Citizens Rights Initiative (LACRI), an SPV of NAS PC providing pro bono legal services to inmates.

The visit culminated in the signing of the Visitors’ Register and a group photograph, reinforcing the bond between Oxbow Marino Deck and the Bayelsa State Command of NCoS.
