The commissioner for Lands and physical planning, Imo State, Barr. Enyinna Onuegbu, has emphatically denied any ambition to contest the 2027 Imo gubernatorial election.
This was made known through a statement made available to LEADERSHIP, which was personally signed by the commissioner, Barr. Onuegbu.
Barr. Onuegbu, who hails from Umuokoro Eziama in Ngor Okpala local government area, Owerri zone, stressed his commitment and loyalty to current role as an appointee in Uzodimma’s administration.
He said, “I hereby deny any alleged governorship ambition. My sole focus is to deliver on the expectations of my duties as an appointee under His Excellency, Hope Uzodimma.”
The commissioner appealed to media practitioners and political analysts to exclude his name from discussions regarding the 2027 governorship race.
The statement resonates in line with the increasing political maneuvering and discussions about the Imo Charter of Equity, which promotes rotation of the governorship among the three geo- political zones of the state.
Barr. Onuegbu’s disavowal of any governorship ambitions is seen by political analysts as a move to support Uzodimma’s call for focus on governance rather than early political deliberations.

Barr. Onuegbu revealed that his political ambition is currently limited to supporting the administration and contributing to the governor’s vision and mission.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Uzodimma.
“I remain a loyal member of our great party, the APC, but I shall presently step back from active political activism to focus on my official duties.
“In the wake of rather premature jostling for the preferred zone to produce the next Governor of Imo State and petulant posturing by intending aspirants for the 2027 gubernatorial elections in Imo State, it has become compelling that I, Enyinna Victor Onuegbu Esq, native of Umuokoro Eziama Ngor Okpala LGA of Owerri Zone, Imo State, make the following declarations on record.
“That i hereby forswear any alleged governorship ambition.
That I have not and will not mandate any person or group to purport on my behalf, any propagation of an intention, to be aspiring for the governorship election presently.
“That the only political ambition i have now is to concentrate on my present status as an appointee in the cabinet of Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo State and my benefactor, to whom I remain loyal and eternally grateful for my political progress, and deliver on his expectations from my official duties.
“That i urge all media practitioners and our respected writers to please, leave my name out of every permutation and analysis regarding gubernatorial candidacy for 2027, for our beloved State.
“That, while i remain a loyal member of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), i shall presently step back from my activism as a party member, to enable me concentrate on my official duties.To God be the glory”
