In a bid to deepen grassroots development and promote quality education, Governor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom State has commissioned two ultra-modern teachers’ quarters in Oyoku and Eyulor communities, both in Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government Area.
The newly completed facilities, located at Government Primary School Oyoku and Eyulor respectively, were initiated and constructed by the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Barr. Uno Etim Uno. The commissioning took place on Friday, May 16, 2025.
The Governor ably represented by Mkpisong Frank Archibong, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Dean of Commissioners and Special Advisers, Governor Eno described the project as a legacy initiative in line with his ARISE Agenda, urging other council chairmen to replicate such practical development efforts in their respective domains.
“You have proven that you have the experience, knowledge and political will to lead the people of Urueoffong/Oruko,” the Governor said, commending the council boss for his leadership and commitment to improving living conditions for teachers in the area.
He further encouraged the local communities to protect and maintain the infrastructure against vandalism, stressing the need for collective ownership of public projects.
In his remarks, Barr. Uno Etim Uno thanked Governor Eno for his inclusive leadership approach and affirmed his continued loyalty. He also pledged massive grassroots mobilization to support the Governor’s re-election bid in 2027.
The twin commissioning marks another step in the state government’s push to improve rural infrastructure and prioritize the welfare of educators across Akwa Ibom.
