Ahmadu Bello Stadium ( ABS), being the home ground for the hosts, controlled the first half, creating scoring opportunities but couldn’t capitalize on them.

However, the visitors’ solid defense held strong, keeping the Tornadoes’ attackers at bay and maintaining a goalless deadlock at halftime.

Five minutes into the restart, Mohammed Hussaini scored with a well-taken free kick that beat Abia Warriors goalkeeper and sailed into the net to give us a deserved lead.

After overcoming a long injury lay-off, Joseph Godstime was introduced, coming in for Adebambo Ademola. The enterprising attacker had an opportunity to increase the tally, but Abia Warriors goalkeeper bravely parried the ball out of danger.

In a heart-stopping moment, Idris Saidu’s clearance attempt ricocheted back into the box just seconds before stoppage time, and Iwu Emmanuel’s misjudgment allowed the ball to slip through his hands and into the net.
