Council Chair lifts widows, PWDs, others, As Ekiti First Lady commissions Eleyowo Ultra Modern Shopping Plaza

Grassroots governance can only be meaningful when those at the helm of affairs evolve policies and programs that will uplift the living standards of the people.

This could have informed the initiative of one of the council helmsmen in Ekiti State, who pilots the affairs at Ado Central Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. Toyin Ojo, to put smiles on the faces of widows and People With Disabilities, PWDs, in his constituency as they received financial grants and monthly stipend to eke out a living.

About one hundred and fifty widows and market women were offered the lifeline to either engage in businesses or boost existing ones. People With Disabilities, PWDs, were placed on monthly stipends of a certain amount of cash to enable them to have food on their table considering the current economic realities.

Hon. Ojo also showcased his developmental drive in the council with the inauguration by the wife of the state governor, Professor Olayemi Oyebanji, of an ultra-modern shopping complex he built as one of the sources of internally generated revenue for the council.

Prof. Oyebanji appreciated the council boss for placing a commendable premium on the welfare of his constituents. She gave an assurance that the administration which has her husband in the saddle will always be concerned with the wellbeing of the grassroots.

The Council Chairman, Hon. Toyin Ojo proved doubting Thomases wrong by his determination that the shopping complex would be a dream come true and completed within a record time of seven months.

According to him, the shopping mall is the biggest to be put in place by any local government in the history of Ekiti and will serve as an economic/commercial nerve center for the community in the promotion of trading activities, thereby ushering in an improved economy for the council.

According to him”, more development projects will still be in place to make life more meaningful for the people”

The event was graced by members of the Ewi-In-Council, in whose domain the Ado Central Local Council Development Area falls, chairman Ado Progressive Union Engr Segun Famuagun, Commissioner for Information Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun his counterpart in the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning Hon Karounwi Oladapo, State APC chairman Barr. Sola Ekesin, religious and traditional leaders, market women/men, and others.
