EBHA Committee on Local Gov’t tasks development centers Coordinators on project execution

The Chairman Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Chieftaincy and EBSIEC Matters Hon Good luck Obinna Mbam has enjoined Coordinators of Development Centers in Ebonyi State to evolve strategic plans that would fast track grassroot development.
The Chairman stated this when the committee extended its oversight function visit to five development centers in Afikpo North Local Government Area.
He explained that the visit became necessary as the House needs to be abreast with happenings in the Development Centers, especially how the Coordinators are utilizing public funds to execute projects that have a direct impact on the people.
At Amasiri Development Center, the committee Chairman, Hon Obinna Mbam, said that the Coordinator, Hon Anya Baron Ogbonna, has demonstrated good political will to serve his people, adding that most of the projects he embarked upon were of good and higher quality and implored him to continue with his developmental drives.
The Committee inspected some of the Coordinator’s Projects, which include the constructed bridge at Alirede Ezeke Farm road, culverts, boreholes, drainage system, and the Renovated building of Amasiri Development Center.
At Afikpo North East Development Center, the committee exceptionally commended the Coordinator, Hon Immaculata Ibe, for the cleanliness of the Development Center environment, the ongoing Construction of the market at Mkpoghoro, and the sinking of boreholes in the area and enjoined her to continue to bring the dreamt development to the center.
When the committee visited Amaoha Development Center the story was negative as the committee was disgusted at the dirtiness in the Development Center and frowned at the scarcity of projects in the area.
He directed the Coordinator, Hon. Kenneth Orji Obasi, to embark on the Projects that will give a facelift in the center and bring expected happiness to the people.
At Afikpo North Development Center, the committee chairman, Hon Obinna Mbam, disclosed that their visit was aimed at strengthening the Development Centers to be more functional and enjoined coordinator Hon Raphael Okoronkwo to always ensure that their financial transactions are in tandem with financial rules and regulations.
Also, at Ubeyi Development Center, the committee chairman, Hon Obinna Mbam, told the Coordinator, Mrs. Aisha Isa Nwachi, that the visit was to liaise with the development centers on how well to execute any project embarked on and not to witch-hunt anybody.
Responding, the Coordinator of Amasiri Development Center Hon Anya Baron Ogbonna, and the Coordinator of Afikpo North East Hon Ibe Immaculata Nnenna commended the State Governor Rt Hon Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru for making the Development Centers in Ebonyi State viable adding that the oversight function visits of the Committee were a right step on a right direction as it has repositioned them to work harder in bringing meaningful development to the hinterlands.
