Whatsapp group admin shot dead over removing member dispute

A shocking incident in Pakistan has resulted in the killing of a WhatsApp group administrator after he removed a member from the chat, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

As reported by PUNCH, the victim, Mushtaq Ahmed, was gunned down on Thursday evening in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an area that has faced ongoing security challenges.

According to police, a suspect identified as Ashfaq has been charged with the murder.

Reports indicate that tensions arose between the two after Mushtaq removed Ashfaq from the group. In an effort to resolve their dispute, they arranged to meet, but Ashfaq allegedly showed up armed and shot Mushtaq, as stated in a complaint filed by the victim’s brother.

Investigators believe the attack was fueled by anger over the removal from the chat group.

The case underscored broader concerns in the region, where access to firearms, tribal customs, and weak law enforcement often contribute to violent confrontations.
