Niger house committee on local government, chieftaincy affairs visits three councils on oversight

Niger State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by its Chairman, Hon. Bello Bako, in continuation of its oversight, has visited three councils areas of the state.

The councils visited included. Mokwa, Edati, and Lavun, Local Government Areas, are the last phase of the tour.

The visit was aimed at monitoring the activities of local government councils, ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

In the course of the visit, the committee commended the Chairman of Lavun Local Government Council, Hon. Isah Mohammed, for his exemplary leadership and commitment to grassroots development.

The chairman’s efforts in maintaining proper documentation and record-keeping were particularly praised.

The committee members advised the council chairmen to focus on projects that would have a direct impact on their communities, promoting the well-being and prosperity of the people.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, the oversight visit reflects the committee’s dedication to strengthening governance and enhancing effective administration at the local level; by working together with local government councils, the committee aims to foster a more transparent and accountable system of governance.

In their separate remarks, the Chairmen of Mokwa, Edati, and Lavun Local Government Areas, Hon. Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi, Hon. Sunday Daniel Yisa, and Hon.Isah Mohammed, appreciated the Committee for a visit, which they believe will help them put their records straight.

They assured the Committee that they would continue to execute meaningful projects that will have a direct impact on the people to complement the New Niger Agenda of the present administration in the state.
