The Ogun State Government has announced that tolling operations on the Epe-Mojoda-Ijebu-Ode Expressway will officially commence on Monday, March 24, 2025.

According to the Director-General of the Office of Public-Private Partnerships, Dapo Oduwole, the decision is part of the government’s strategy to ensure sustainable road maintenance, enhance operational efficiency, and improve road safety.

The 14.7km expressway, once in poor condition, was reconstructed by the Dapo Abiodun-led administration to facilitate smoother travel and economic activities between Lagos and Ogun State.

Oduwole explained that the public-private partnership (PPP) model was adopted for managing the road, including toll collection. However, tolling has been delayed since 2021 to provide relief for residents and commuters.

“While prioritizing public interest, we must also consider the economic interests of investors to strike a balance,” Oduwole stated. “After nearly four years of toll-free usage, the time has come to commence tolling operations.”

He assured that necessary amenities had been provided, making the expressway one of the best in the country. He also confirmed that certain vehicles would be exempt from toll payments, including Emergency response vehicles ambulances, fire service trucks, patrol vehicles Government-owned security vehicles Ogun State Government official vehicles.

Oduwole urged all road users to comply with tolling regulations, warning that enforcement measures would be strictly implemented without bias.
