NMGS hosts industry players at dinner, awards night in Abuja

The Nigerian Mining Geosciences Society (NMGS) recently hosted industry players at a Dinner and Awards Night, sponsored by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

The event, held at the Chida Event Centre in Abuja on February 19, 2025, was part of the ongoing 60th Annual International Conference and Exhibition of NMGS.

In attendance were notable industry players, including Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of NNPCL; the Nigeria Customs Service Boss; and HRH Queen Mother Amb. Amina Temitope Labinjo Ajayi JP, Chairman/CEO of SV-NED Mining Company. Also present were Prof. Olusegun Ige, Director General of NGSA, and Prof. Omar Rahaman, among others.

The event’s theme, “Transformation of the mineral, Energy, Water, and construction sectors through innovation,” highlighted the crucial role of industry players in driving growth and creating opportunities in Nigeria. The Dinner and Awards Night recognized the contributions of students, professors, and other industry stakeholders who have made significant impacts in the past year.

The ceremony was electrifying, with numerous awards presented and new members inducted as fellows of NMGS. The event underscored the importance of collaboration and innovation in the industry, as Nigeria strives to transform its mineral, energy, water, and construction sectors.
