Niger House of Assembly confirms Auditor General for local governments

Niger State House of Assembly has officially confirmed Ahmed Yusuf as the new Auditor-General for Local Governments in the state.

This decision followed a request from Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, presented during the Assembly’s 123rd sitting on February 5, 2025.

The nomination was referred to the Public Accounts Committee for evaluation.

Hon. Andrew Doma, representing the Shiroro constituency and chairing the committee, reported that after reviewing Ahmed Yusuf’s curriculum vitae and performance during the screening, the committee recommended his confirmation based on merit.

They concluded that he is well-suited for the position and capable of enhancing local government audits.

The confirmation of Ahmed Yusuf is expected to strengthen the auditing processes within Niger State’s local governments, promoting transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.
