Abia Gov’t to partner NAFDAC to stop fake products in Aba

Imo Thomas -Umuahia.
The government of Abia state has regretted the bad image manufacturers of fake and substandard products in Aba are bringing to the state and promised to join hands with NAFDAC to stop the practice.
Governor Alex Otti, gave this assurance while reacting to questions on the bad image manufacturers of fake products are bringing to the state.
Governor Otti described the manufacturing of fake products in the State as an embarrassment and encouraged local manufacturers involved in such practices to desist and rather develop their own brands.
He expressed the willingness of the State Government to support local manufacturers that are willing to follow due process in plying their trade.
“I do not have a problem with you making your own product, but I have a problem with you faking the product of somebody else and trying to pass it as the original version.
“So, we are going to come down very hard on manufacturers of fake products because they are giving us a bad name, and that is not good. Our people are industrious and make a lot of things in Aba.
“I have directed my people in government to ensure that we continue from where NAFDAC stopped.
“So, we encourage them to make their products and call them by their names instead of faking other people’s products, or we will raid and stop them in their tracks,” Gov. Otti said.
He urged individuals interested in the business of manufacturing any product to go through the process of getting a National Agency for Food Drug Administration Control Registration.
He also urged them to take ownership of their products and learn from countries like China and Japan that started by selling their locally manufactured products at cheap prices until they gained acceptance globally.
