BERWO clears hospital bill of 74 patients, Mother of Triplets in Ebonyi
By: Uzorigwe Gloria, Abakaliki.
The wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs. Mary-maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru, the founder and CEO of Better Health for Rural Women Children and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO) earlier paid a visit to the FMedicalMedical Center Abakaliki (AE-FETHA) today Tuesday 17th December 2024.
Ebonyi, the first lady, paid the hospital bills of a mother’s birth to triplet t in AE-FETHA and distributed babies and some funds to the mothers who were newly put to bed.
She said she was so exalted because when God does a miracle, we don’t understand it.
“It” is a thing of joy to have triplates and all boys, I have been visiting Fetha and I was going to mile four today, but when I had of this miracles of what God done in your family I decided to turn back to feta, bec it is a miraculous work that God has done.
My foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons, BERWO, is committed to alleviating the sufferings of the Ebonyi people.
This is the core objective of BERWO.
BERWO’s attention was drawn to the plight of 74 indigent Ebonyians and four non-Ebonyi patients ranging from mothers, children, and elderly men who have been treated but detained by AEFETHA administrative authority because of their inability to offset their hospital bills after treatment.
In the spirit of the Christmas season, BERWO has cleared the total bills. This bill was to the tune of twenty-seven million, six hundred and sixty-six thousand, one hundred and nine Naira (#27,666,109), and by the grace of God, all detainees have been discharged and have reunited with their respective families.
In the same vein, I made a stopover at the postnatal department to celebrate with one of our own whose wife had just delivered a set of triplets. With the same joy, I went around the ward and celebrated every new mother and baby, distributing newborn packs and cash envelopes. It made my day to see how so little can bring so much positivity and smiles to other people’s faces.
