Surveyors charge on practice refinement models through advance tech-value

Association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN), Lagos State branch, a sub division of the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors (NIS) has been urged to refine their methods of business transactions and dealings with clients through the adoption of modern technologies value of the profession for effective service rendering.

The call was made to the APPSN fellows and members of the association during their annual general meeting and launchon of the association by Surv. Tope Yinka Ojo who is also an estate valuer.

Surv. Yinka Ojo who is the keynote speaker of the event, held in Lagos, Ikeja, by the APPSN association, explain deeply on the theme “Re-engineering professionalism in the private practice sector towards service delivery”

The speaker in is justice to the theme highlighted views that is essentially needed for the growth of the surveyors profession, quality service delivery, soft skill of negotiations as he added that their is need to migrate from subsistence practice of “my family and I” by adding value to the nation and deploying adequate needed technology into the practice in other to make client more secure during the process and after transactional bid.

Yinka Ojo who discribed the land grabber individuals as a trespassers of societal problem that government policies are already regulating, he affirmed that adopting a technology values will aid the efficiency of the profession by putting the land grabbers at the bar and with strong framework they can easily be eliminated.

The chairman of the association of private practising surveyor of Nigeria (APPSN) Surv. Adaranijo Ibikunle in is welcome keynote speech appreciate the fellows, members of the association, he further highlighted some of the challenges the APPSN members are encountering from non member surveyors.

He proceeded by adding that surveying is the bedrock of any development he cited that most collapse building lack the insight of adequate survey and this has give room for robust synergy between them and the government which has translated into building collapse committee in Lagos.

Surv. Ibikunle added that Lagosian welfare must be taken care off with substantive policies in other to have a structural environment, he affirmed that the recent remark of Lagos state in 2019 by Canadian experts has changed dimension of surveyors duties which as rendered some of the equipments outdated.

Furthermore, the coming together of APPSN is to provide a soccor to other member in getting the needed equipment installmentally because it is a foreign equipment, meanwhile, APPSN also combat with quacks surveyors by taking a legal action on the unregistered surveyor.

Arch. Kayode Anibaba who is the special guest of honour represented by Arch. Fola Jibowu, added that the quality of surveyors can’t be over look because it is their duties to describe the structure architects can build on a land, he further noted that the general awareness of physical development planning is tend to be low, government need to intensify on the policy awareness implementation by compulsory the concern members to register.

The chairman of Nigeria Institute Surveyors Lagos branch, Surv. Kolade Kasim appreciate the entire members for their supports and appeal to the practitioners over the insight they sometimes give to the unregistered members on the punitive and advance measures they are putting in place, he urge them to be inward in tackling problems for quality service.

The event which house their annual general meeting with relevant stakeholders, award presentation to memebers, new exco committee and other diginties that grace the event were Oba Babatunde Sonola, the Olu of Makogi, Arch. Kayode Anibaba, among both field and academics stakeholders were all present at the event.
