Buhari sets up Presidential Transition Council

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of a Presidential Transition Council to facilitate and manage the handing over of power by his government
Buhari said it would enhance the seamless transition of power from one presidential administration to another.
This was disclosed in a statement via his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.
The President also revealed he has approved the establishment of a Presidential Transition Council, which would be chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF.
Buhari wrote: “I have signed Executive Order No. 14 of 2023 on the Facilitation and Management of Presidential Transitions. The new Executive Order puts in place a legal framework for the seamless transition of power from one Presidential Administration to another.
“I have also approved the establishment of a Presidential Transition Council, to be chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), to facilitate and manage the 2023 Presidential transition programme.”

“The Transition Council will be inaugurated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Tuesday 14th February, 2023 at 12 noon at the Conference Hall of the SGF. Members are expected to attend the inauguration in person,” Mustapha said in the statement signed on his behalf by the Director, Information in his office, Mr. Willie Bassey.
In the meantime. the Movement For the Protection of Democracy and good governance (MSDG) have assured that the 2023 general elections would be peaceful and hitch-free where the group called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that the 25th February and 11th March elections is actualize without interference.
In a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Kano by the group’s chairman, Alhaji DaudaMohammed Ali, “MSDG is happy to hear that His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari has constituted a high powered transition committee that would plan and implement a handing over to the newly elected government in a democratic dispensation”. The statement read.
The group further called on the good people of Nigeria to vote wisely in order to ensure that the 2023 general elections is free, fair and transparent especially at present when the political situation in Nigeria is taking another dimension, where he thanked the security agencies for playing an important role towards the actualization of peaceful polls
