Mother, child kidnapped in Osogbo regain freedom
Olayinka Kayode, the 32-year-old woman who was kidnapped together with her child on Tuesday in Osogbo, has been freed.
The release of the woman was confirmed on Thursday in Osogbo by SP Yemisi Opalola, the Police Spokesman in Osun, and Rev. Sunday Adeoye, a Senior Pastor, Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo, Osogbo.
The pastor said in a statement issued by the church’s spokesperson, Oluwamayowa Fagbohungbe, that the woman and her daughter were released on Thursday.
He however did not say whether ransom was paid, but appreciated security agencies, members of the church and the media for their prayers and support towards the release of the victims.
Also, the Police spokesperson confirmed the release of the victims, but said she was awaiting further details.
It will be recalled that the woman and her child were kidnapped around 6.00p.m on Tuesday, while returning home from her shop.
The woman was said to be a teacher in the Union Baptist Church.
The kidnappers had contacted the woman’s husband, demanding N5 million ransom.
