Family demands justice for murdered 27 years old daughter as they buried remains

 The vicinity of the sleepy Community of EziamaCommunity in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Council of Imo State, last Saturday, 28th January,2023 was charged with anger and revenge as the body of one her young enterprising youths was laid to rest after her remains was exhumed from a shallow grave and later given second  burial at her father’s Compound as her family demands for justice on those allegedly mastermind her death.

Recall that the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Spokesman, CSP Michael Abattam, had last November, 2022 while briefing Journalists in Owerri, the State capital confirmed the arrest of some suspects behind the gruesome murder  of one Miss Uchechi Joy Nwachukwu at her place of work in Owerri.

The State Command spokesman had also during the briefing revealed that the body of the 34 years old lady has also been exhumed.

CSP Michael Abattam, said Miss Nwachukwu had left home for work on October 24, 2022, and never returned.

Abattam revealed that Nwachukwu’s corpse was found in a shallow grave at the back of a gas station, where she worked, after a thorough search by police investigators.

The police image maker narrated: “Following a case of Missing Person reported on the 24/10/2022 by the family of young woman, Miss Joy UchechiNwachukwu, aged, 36yrs who left home for work and after a futile search, the family decided to complain to the Commissioner of Police through a petition written by one Pastor Mrs Precious Abara

However, at the burial of the murdered Miss UchechiJoy Nwachukwu emotions were let loose as mourners who were mostly youths and  other relations as her remains was interred in her family compound including family members, who could not hold back their tears as the body of the once promising young lady who life was cut short was lowered into the grave.

Speaking to Journalists, the immediate senior to late Uchechi Joy, Clifford Nwachukwu disclosed that late Uchechi was a  graduate of Business Administration from Federal Polytechnics Nekede while narrated his last moment with her late sister.

 “We returned home on the 21th October, 2022 for the burial of one of our Uncles after the burial we all retuned back to our different places of abode, after three days, my younger sister called me, complaining that  Uchechi’s moble phone lines was not going through which I tried, after three days later, we received a report that her remains was found in a shallow grave and from Police Investigation so far revealed that she was killed at her place of work.

He commended the Homicide Department of the State Command of the Nigeria Police for the Successful  break through so far it has handled the matter.

“I feel so bad about the way she was murdered, she was worked at the Gas Plant as the company’s Accountant, since the suspects have  been arrested, I handover everything over to God and that justice must prevail, in e want the matter charged to Court”.

He decried the situation whereby the proprietor of the Gas Plant has not visited the bereaved family after the discovery, “ Since the discovery of my sister’s body in a shallow grave within the gas premises, the proprietorof the gas plant has not shown up or paid any sympathy visit to the family”

Speaking also, the 78 years old father of the late Uchechi Mr Sunday Nwachukwu, a retired Bricklayer, regretted that the offence of  his late daughter was her diligent in trying to protect another person’s investment.

He collaborated the story of his son as to the last day she had spent with the family members during her last visit on the 21st October,2022, “ She was hale and hearty, all I started hearing was that she was missing and  the next we heard was that her corpse was discovered from a shallow grave.

“My daughter was a God fearing person, she was not greedy or covetous over other person’s wealth or property”, he disclosed

He appealed to the State government to ensure that justice prevails, “I have left everything for government because I know that it is only government that has the capacity to prosecute the matter but for those behind this evil, they will never go unpunished before God”

For Madam Veronica Nwachukwu, mother of the deceased “The day we received the news, I lost appetite for food and became unconscious, I am totally traumatized. If the Police should release the suspects under their detention, they will not go unpunished, what I demand is for justice”.
