Veteran actress Kate Henshaw has stirred debate online after launching a scathing attack on individuals who attend events without invitations, describing the behaviour as shameless and disrespectful.
In a blunt Instagram video, Henshaw called out both gatecrashers and those who extend invitations to others without consulting event organisers.
She questioned the mindset behind such actions, suggesting that many offenders lack basic social discipline and regard for boundaries.
According to her, the growing trend of uninvited attendance undermines the effort, planning, and resources invested by hosts.
“I want to talk about something rampant, has been rampant, and is still rampant. I just want to ask those of you who show up uninvited at events and parties, what’s your purpose? What do you aim to achieve?” she said.
She also criticised individuals who receive single-entry invitations but arrive with additional guests without permission.
“Then, those of you who receive a card that admits only one person and invite all your village people, don’t check with the host; you pack your people and come. What are you doing there?” she queried.
Henshaw concluded by urging people to embrace self-respect and avoid forcing themselves into spaces where they are not wanted.
“Why don’t you respect yourself and stay away? It’s rude, you’re a gate crasher. Respect yourself enough to stay away from places you aren’t invited to,” she added.
