The Oyo State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough after a kidnapped victim regained freedom under intense operational pressure mounted on his abductors in Oyo.

The rescue followed a distress report received at the Ojongbodu Division, indicating that armed hoodlums had stormed a community, abducted a male resident, and fled with mobile phones and two motorcycles in a brazen attack.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, the Divisional Police Officer wasted no time in mobilising a coordinated response involving police operatives, the Amotekun Corps, vigilantes, and local hunters.

The joint task force launched an aggressive manhunt, combing nearby bushes and mapping out possible escape routes used by the kidnappers in a sustained search operation.

The effort was further strengthened by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, which deployed geolocation tracking and other intelligence-driven strategies to tighten the net around the suspects.

Under mounting pressure, the kidnappers reportedly became disoriented, creating a narrow window that enabled the victim to escape unharmed from captivity.

Police authorities confirmed that the victim has since been reunited with his family and debriefed to assist ongoing investigations aimed at tracking down the fleeing criminals.

Reassuring residents, Olayinka Ayanlade emphasised the command’s commitment to strengthening security through intensified patrols, strategic deployments, and collaboration with community stakeholders.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely intelligence, stressing that community cooperation remains critical in combating crime across the state.

Meanwhile, efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing, with the police promising further updates as investigations progress.

In a related development, operatives of the Delta State Police Command recently dismantled a suspected kidnapper’s hideout in a forest between Ibusa and Ogwashi-Uku, rescuing a 27-year-old woman and other victims.

The operation, confirmed by police spokesperson Bright Edafe, was also driven by intelligence reports, underscoring the growing reliance on coordinated security responses nationwide.
