Chelsea staged a comeback that bordered on the absurd, overturning a 2-0 half-time deficit to beat West Ham 3-2, their first-ever Premier League victory when trailing by two goals at the interval, sealed by Enzo Fernandez deep into stoppage time.

At the break, West Ham looked in full control, ruthlessly exposing a disjointed Chelsea side and appearing set for a third straight league win as Stamford Bridge braced for another uncomfortable afternoon.

Liam Rosenior’s decision to rotate heavily backfired early, as Jarrod Bowen’s innocuous seventh-minute cross somehow curled straight into the net, summing up Chelsea’s fragile mood and poor concentration.

When Crysencio Summerville rifled home a second in the 36th minute, the contest looked done. The reaction was drastic: three half-time substitutions that smacked of desperation but ultimately changed everything.

Wesley Fofana ignited the revival with a surging run and inch-perfect cross for Joao Pedro to pull one back, before Marc Cucurella, of all people, launched himself into a diving header to level the scores after chaos in the West Ham box.

West Ham then had chances to kill the game. Jean-Clair Todibo hit the post with the goal begging, and Chelsea punished that miss mercilessly as Joao Pedro turned provider, teeing up Fernandez to sweep home the winner on the eve of his third anniversary at the club.

Tempers exploded late on, and West Ham’s collapse was complete when Todibo was sent off for grabbing Joao Pedro by the throat, a red card that summed up a team losing both control and composure.

The defeat leaves West Ham stranded in 18th, five points from safety, while Chelsea leap into the top four, piling pressure on Manchester United ahead of their clash with Fulham and reigniting belief that chaos can still produce results.
