Tears ran down freely in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Friday as the remains of a slain Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Lasisi Oluwamayokun, and her daughter, Adesewa, were buried.
The 38-year-old officer of the FRSC Ogun State Command and her daughter were interred at the cemetery of St. John’s Anglican Church, Ita-Olookan, Osogbo, as grieving relatives, colleagues, friends and sympathisers struggled to come to terms with their brutal deaths.
The solemn burial ceremony was marked by uncontrollable sobs and lamentations, with mourners openly cursing those responsible for what many described as a wicked and heartless act that cut short two promising lives.
Oluwamayokun and her daughter were declared missing on the morning of Sunday, November 2, 2025, after they left their residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and failed to return home.
Their disappearance later took a disturbing turn following the arrest of one Victor Fajemirokun, said to be a friend of the deceased officer. The 40-year-old suspect, while being paraded by the police, allegedly confessed to luring the mother and daughter to their deaths through some herbalists suspected to be ritualists in Osun State.
Two other suspects, identified as Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, were also paraded alongside Fajemirokun at the headquarters of the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo.
At the graveside, grief-stricken family members and FRSC colleagues wept uncontrollably as the remains of the mother and her daughter were lowered into the earth, bringing a sorrowful end to a tragedy that has shocked many across Ogun and Osun states.
