Celtic have finally drawn the line under Wilfried Nancy’s nightmare spell, sacking the manager after Saturday’s 3–1 derby defeat to Rangers confirmed his sixth loss in just eight matches.

According to BBC Sport, the 48-year-old had signed a two-and-a-half-year deal after finishing the MLS season with Columbus Crew, officially taking charge on December 4.

But the optimism vanished quickly, especially after interim boss Martin O’Neill had won seven of eight matches before handing over.

Nancy made unwanted history by losing his first two games, then oversaw further embarrassment with defeats to St Mirren in the League Cup final and Dundee United.

That run marked Celtic’s first four-game losing streak since Jock Stein’s era in 1978.

Brief league wins over Aberdeen and Livingston offered false hope, but losses at Motherwell and a second-half collapse against Rangers sealed his fate.

Celtic also dismissed head of football operations Paul Tisdale, compounding the clear-out at the club.

Despite past MLS success, including an MLS Cup win and Manager of the Year honours, Nancy exits Celtic with just five wins in his last 20 matches.

The champions are now left searching for direction after a disastrous gamble.
