France and Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembélé crowned his golden year by winning FIFA’s Best Men’s Player award in Qatar on Tuesday, while Barcelona star Aitana Bonmatí claimed the women’s prize.

At 28, Dembélé’s triumph followed his Ballon d’Or win in September, capping a season rivals could only envy, including PSG’s historic first Champions League title.

“I wanted to thank my teammates. Hard work pays off,” Dembélé said, as others were left applauding his clean sweep of football’s top honours.

Bonmatí, 27, continued her own reign of dominance, winning the women’s award for a third straight year after securing yet another Ballon d’Or.

Her recognition came despite a turbulent year that included painful losses in both the Champions League and European Championship finals.

The winners were decided through votes from fans, journalists, national team captains and coaches — leaving little room for debate or complaints.
