Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé is €61 million richer after a Paris labour court ordered his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, to cough up unpaid salaries, bonuses, and vacation pay, a costly legal slap PSG will not forget.
The ruling delivers a bruising chapter in one of French football’s most bitter divorces, with PSG left counting losses long after Mbappé walked away for free.
Tuesday’s judgement by the Conseil de prud’hommes followed PSG’s decision to withhold payments during the final months of Mbappé’s contract in 2024, shortly before he ditched Paris for Madrid without a transfer fee.
Mbappé’s legal team had initially demanded more than €260 million, accusing PSG of financial bad faith in a dispute that dragged the club’s credibility through the mud.
According to Le Parisien, the court ordered PSG to pay €55 million in outstanding wages and bonuses, with added vacation pay pushing the bill to roughly €61 million.
The judges also laughed off PSG’s counter-attack, dismissing its €440 million damages claim that alleged Mbappé breached a so-called verbal agreement and damaged the club by leaving for nothing.
The court ruled there was no written waiver from Mbappé and rejected PSG’s arguments outright, leaving the club empty-handed and exposed.
France 24 reports PSG can appeal, though few believe this saga is ending anytime soon.
