Funke Akindele has once again reminded Nollywood who owns the box office.

Her latest film, Behind The Scenes, shattered expectations by crossing the ₦200 million mark in its opening weekend, the biggest of 2025 so far.

FilmOne Entertainment confirmed that the movie smashed five opening-weekend records, setting a new benchmark for the year.

In a celebratory post, the distributor praised Akindele’s dominance, crediting Nigerian audiences for the historic feat.

Advanced screenings on December 10 and 11 helped fuel massive anticipation ahead of the nationwide release on December 12.

The film features a star-studded cast including Scarlet Gomez, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, and Uche Montana.

Akindele’s previous blockbuster, Everybody Loves Jenifa, had already set an unmatched opening-weekend record.

That film went on to become Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie ever, earning over ₦1.8 billion locally and more internationally.
