Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie has reinforced her status as Africa’s goalkeeping queen after winning the 2025 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, her third consecutive triumph, during the award ceremony in Rabat on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper beat Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini to retain her crown, proving once again why she is regarded as one of the best in the world, not just on the continent.
Her year has been nothing short of phenomenal. With Paris FC, Nnadozie delivered commanding performances that helped the club lift the Coupe de France Féminine. Her reflexes, leadership and penalty-saving instincts made her indispensable.
On international duty, she stood tall, literally and figuratively as Nigeria secured a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title. Nnadozie kept four clean sheets and was voted Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament, further validating her dominance.
Her career hit another milestone shortly after WAFCON when she completed a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Women’s Super League. Far from being overwhelmed, she shone instantly, earning a Player of the Match award in her debut outing.
Since joining the WSL, Nnadozie has picked up nominations for Save of the Month and PFA Fans’ Player of the Month, showing her rapid adaptation to English football and her rising global profile.
With back-to-back-to-back CAF Awards now in her trophy cabinet, Nnadozie’s legacy continues to grow, and she’s only 24. Africa may be witnessing the rise of its greatest-ever goalkeeper.
