London Mayor Sadiq Khan has celebrated the viral success of London-based Nigerian content creator Bemi Orojogun, popularly known as London Bus Aunty, after she clinched the Video of the Year award at the 2025 TikTok UK Awards.
In a congratulatory message on X, Khan praised Orojogun for turning her fascination with London’s iconic red buses into content that has “captured hearts across the country.” He added a fun fact that she is also a proud fan of the Bakerloop, the city’s newest express bus route, which she previously helped promote.
Orojogun beat notable creators including Friends of Elmtree, Sam Morris, Gardiner Brothers, Joseph Machines, and Brad Ben to win the highly coveted award, which recognises standout performers on the platform.
The Nigerian creator shot to fame in 2024 with her creative forced-perspective bus videos. Her unique style has since secured collaborations with major global brands such as Burberry, H&M, and MAC Cosmetics, as well as partnerships with the Mayor’s Office to promote London’s zero-emission buses.
In her acceptance speech, she encouraged aspiring creators not to let age or societal expectations hold them back. “If you love it, do it,” she urged, reminding fans that passion can thrive at any stage of life.
Her award-winning video has now amassed nearly 50 million views, triggering excitement among admirers worldwide, including playful comments from Nigerians daring her to recreate her viral stunts in high-traffic hotspots like Oshodi and CMS.
Orojogun’s achievement marks yet another global spotlight moment for Nigerian creatives dominating digital spaces abroad.
