Bafarawa urges Nigerians to rally behind Tinubu amid US –Nigeria tensions

By: Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto.

Former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stressing that the president’s success is vital to the nation’s progress.

Bafarawa made the appeal amid rising diplomatic tensions between Nigeria and the United States, following U.S. threats of possible military action over alleged cases of Christian persecution in Nigeria.

In a statement made available to journalists in Sokoto, the former governor urged citizens to stand united behind President Tinubu, noting that the country’s numerous challenges demand collective effort and understanding.

He warned that the president’s failure would translate into a setback for the entire nation, while his success would mark a victory for all Nigerians.

Bafarawa further advised President Tinubu to adopt a diplomatic approach in addressing the U.S. government’s concerns, cautioning against any confrontational stance that could escalate tensions.

He also urged the administration to prioritize tackling insecurity across the country to forestall situations that could invite external interference.

Bafarawa’s remarks, analysts say, reflect a growing call for national unity and cooperation as Nigeria navigates its complex domestic and international challenges.
