The Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has received a significant boost to his reelection bid with the defection of Hon. Adamu Shekonlumi, a former PDP stalwart and Aspirant at the recent PDP primaries, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was contained in a press release from Kinsley Madaki, the Special Adviser to the AMAC Chair on Media on Sunday.
The defection, which took place at a vibrant event in Kuchigoro, was followed by a unanimous endorsement of Maikalangu’s reelection bid by key community stakeholders. Maikalangu hailed the defection as “a profound testament to unity and a shared, non-partisan vision for progress,” reiterating his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and infrastructure development.
Community elders and stakeholders cited Maikalangu’s extensive developmental strides, including road construction, educational reforms, and community empowerment programs, as evidence of his effective leadership. The event drew a massive crowd, serving as a powerful declaration of solidarity and renewed mandate for the Chairman.
